PLAYER. COACH. PARENT.

PART 6 OF 6-PART SERIES

Conclusion: Alignment as the Highest Goal

The triangle of player, coach, and parent will always exist.

Hockey player sits between coach and parents, forming a triangle. Text highlights influences: guidance, support, and challenges. Arena setting.

The forces are permanent.

But the quality of that triangle — whether it becomes a source of strength or a source of fracture — is a choice that all three corners make every day.

Coaches who invest in relationships, communicate clearly, and develop whole people.

Parents who love fiercely, step back thoughtfully, and keep perspective about what really matters.

Players who take ownership, stay honest, and trust the process.

When these three things happen together, something extraordinary becomes possible. Not just better hockey players — though that happens too.

But people who know how to handle pressure, work within a team, receive feedback, and keep going when it gets hard.

That is the point of the triangle.

Not to produce NHLers, though occasionally it does.

But to produce people.

And the rink, for all its cold and its cost, is one of the finest classrooms we have.
